Therapy Changes to Expect in 2018
Published on December 18, 2017
As we approach 2018, we at Paragon Rehabilitation continue to monitor any upcoming changes to the CMS rules for services paid under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. The most recent updates include a few changes that will take effect January 1, 2018:
The therapy cap for 2018 will be $2,010 for Physical Therapy and Speech Therapy combined, and a separate $2,010 for Occupational Therapy.
- The therapy cap exceptions process will expire at the end of 2017 unless Congress takes action. Our national organizations have been working with Congress to create a permanent therapy cap fix that would eliminate the threat of a hard cap on therapy services.
- Our national organizations are also backing a potential bill, the Medicare Access to Rehabilitation Services Act, which is sitting before Congress. This bill would end the therapy cap and replace it with an all-encompassing targeted review process.
Our team will continue to keep you posted on changes and the Congressional action on the therapy caps. Please contact us with any questions or how you can get involved.
